Every day major online retailers like Amazon are sending out millions of packages worldwide so it's fair to assume that despite millions of daily satisfied customers that statistically mistakes will be made. One can only imagine who will inevitably never hear the end of the whopper that emerged in the news recently for one Florida couple. The couple has chosen to remain anonymous for understandable safety concerns but their story is definitely one that needs to be heard because it's completely unbelievable! Unless you live in Florida because then you know that weird things happen in Florida all the time, like every day.
The couple ordered nothing more than four 27-gallon totes in order to store their belongings but when their package arrived something seemed off. To be specific, it was how much the package weighed. The customer spoke anonymously to WFTV and said:
They were extremely heavy, heavier than you would think from ordering four empty bins.
I'd say so, the total order weighed over 90 pounds! For four empty storage totes that surely seemed ridiculous immediately.
It was only when the couple opened their package that they discovered the totes were packed with marijuana! And we mean packed! 65 pounds is easily a six figure paycheck to what we can only assume right now is a very angry drug dealer.
The couple realized immediately that the situation wasn't quite right and alerted authorities. When the police arrived even they were floored, according to the Amazon customer:
When the first officer got here, she was in disbelief.
That's putting it lightly, we're sure.
The investigation that has since been launched has included the full cooperation of Amazon and Sgt. Eduardo Bernal, public information officer with the Orlando Police Department, said they are cooperating with authorities in the state the package shipped from. Reportedly, the package shipped from a facility in Massachusetts.w
How 65 pounds of marijuana managed to make it's way across multiple states to accidentally arrive on the doorstep of a seemingly innocent Florida couple is currently still a mystery but Amazon released a statement:
Our customer service team worked directly with the customer to address concerns and will work with law enforcement to investigate the case, as needed.
Don't you just hate when this happens?
Oh, wait... it really does not happen. This is a once in a lifetime sort of story that could only happen to a Florida resident.
