Almost every who has a pet knows how much they become a part of the family, and how much everyone comes to love them. However as part of the circle of life pets pass away, run away, or just, unfortunately, get lost and it is absolutely heartbreaking.
Losing a pet is definitely a hard thing to go through but having one run away is just as bad, you don't know where they are or if they're safe or even if they're alive.
This was a reality for Iris, a Vet Tech and mom of two when her cat Diego, her best friend for 12 years, went missing.
Diego, a flame-point Siamese cat had been her best friend for almost 12 years before he disappeared back in 2015. It is said that the inside cat took the chance to escape out of a garage door when Iris' dad was visiting. Everyone thought he was gone for good, but Iris wouldn't let herself believe it.
Iris looked everywhere for Diego, posting signs out to find him for over an entire year, hoping that someone somewhere might recognize him. Even though he had been gone for so long Iris still refused to accept that he was gone forever. Even though everyone encouraged her to move on Iris never gave up hope.
She said in an interview with Love Meow: "I was at work and in between patients, I'm a vet tech, something told me to look on animal friends of the Valley website which is odd for me."
And so she brought up the site, and what did she find? A very familiar face staring back at her.
"I saw his picture and left work as fast I could."
When she arrived to view the cat, she knew that it was her Diego. Iris said: "The moment I saw him I felt indescribable joy, I felt peace and overwhelmed because I knew he wasn't dead. My intuition always told me he was alive,"
It was him! After two years of being apart, the two were finally reunited!
