Gender roles are very rooted in our society, men and women are expected to do a couple of things or pursue particular career paths just because of their gender, which is a pretty ridiculous and outdated concept that we need to get rid of as soon as possible. Being a cop is usually considered a manly job because men are stronger and usually play the protective role in society so it's only natural that they are assigned a job like that, but some women don't agree with that statement at all and consider themselves more than qualified for the job.
