Artist Re-Imagines Classic Disney Princesses As Awesome Modern Girls

by Elana

The art, music, and stories Disney gives the world have always managed to stand the test of time. They are classic; they are iconic. The world will never tire of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella any more than it will of the newer princesses on the block like Rapunzel and Anna. That's practically stating the obvious of course, we all love Disney to pieces! But we still can't help but let our imaginations run wild. What would the heroines of Disney be like today if they walked among you and I?

Would they be preps or punk rock? Would they be tech-savvy or free-spirited hippies? Pakistani-Canadian illustrator and artist Anoosha Syed has brought our wildest dreams to reality by re-imagining classic Disney princesses asĀ  modern, 21st century fashion forward gals and we are so down for that. Check out her incredible work now!

Tiana from The Princess and the Frog

Tiana looks like she's ready to take on the world with bright ideas and coffee to go.

Belle from Beauty and the Beast

Belle would definitely be the nerdy, quiet girl, immersed in a couple fandoms (to say the least.)

Merida from Brave

The punk-rock rebel of Disney princesses, Merida would definitely be a force to reckon with in the 21st century.

Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

Tackling social media, Snow White looks like she is feeling fabulous in her skin and she definitely mastered the selfie a long time ago.

Esmerelda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame

21st century dancer extraordinaire? Ballerina, of course.

Jasmine from Aladdin

Jasmine is an avid blogger in the 21st century, cultured and refined and could easily demolish you in debate.

Mulan from Mulan

The fierce warrior of ancient China would be all about ROTC as a cadet.

Ariel from The Little Mermaid

Never a fish out of sea in the 21st century, Ariel would be the gal everyone wants to know.
